What do selenium, copper and zinc do?

  • Selenium supports thyroid hormone metabolism and enzymes that help protect cells from oxidative damage.
  • Copper helps the body use iron, produce energy and maintain connective tissue. It also contributes to antioxidant enzyme activity.
  • Zinc supports immune function, wound healing, protein production and taste. Prolonged high-dose zinc supplementation can lower copper levels, which is one reason to review both together.

Why check vitamins C, A and E?

  • Vitamin C is water-soluble. It supports collagen formation, wound healing, antioxidant protection and absorption of iron from plant foods.
  • Vitamin A is fat-soluble and important for vision, immune function and the tissues lining the skin and organs.
  • Vitamin E is fat-soluble. It helps protect cell membranes from oxidative damage and supports immune function.

What vitamin and micronutrient results actually mean

What are micronutrients, and why measure them?

Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals your body needs in small amounts to function well. If your diet, symptoms or medical history suggest you may be low in a particular nutrient, we can choose a blood test for it. We review the result alongside what you eat, any supplements you take and conditions that affect absorption. That helps us advise which foods to include more often and whether a supplement would be useful.

Could low B12 or iron stores explain tiredness?

B12 deficiency and low iron stores are among the issues a clinician may consider when assessing tiredness. Ferritin helps assess stored iron; it is not a vitamin and can also rise with inflammation. The full micronutrient profile includes B12, folate and ferritin. These findings are interpreted with symptoms and, when relevant, blood count rather than assuming every tired person has a deficiency.

What is the difference between vitamin D2, D3 and total vitamin D?

D2 and D3 are forms of vitamin D. The full profile reports their 25-OH measurements and total 25-OH vitamin D, a marker used to assess vitamin D status. The total is a combined result, not a third independent vitamin. Vitamin D supports bone and calcium health; the result should be interpreted with your situation rather than used as a universal wellness score.

Does an antioxidant panel measure detox or biological age?

This panel measures the listed substances, including selected vitamins, carotenoids and CoQ10. It does not directly measure detoxification, all oxidative stress or biological age. Its practical value is a clearer view of those specific blood markers. If your question includes B12, iron stores, minerals or vitamin D, compare the full micronutrient profile, which adds those measurements.

How can I use the results without taking unnecessary supplements?

Review what you already eat and take before adding anything. Your plan can focus on the markers that need attention, a practical dietary change or a targeted supplement when appropriate. A higher blood level is not automatically better. Keep a record of supplement names and doses, and agree which markers need follow-up instead of automatically repeating every panel.

Which nutritional tests can I arrange?

Kauri offers selected vitamin tests, a micronutrient profile and an antioxidant/vitamin panel. A focused test can answer a specific question; a broader profile may suit a more detailed nutritional review. We explain the actual included markers before you choose.

When can vitamin testing be helpful?

Testing can help investigate a suspected deficiency, a restricted diet, absorption concerns or the effects of supplementation. Symptoms such as tiredness have many possible causes, so we consider nutritional results alongside your wider health rather than assuming vitamins are the only explanation.

What does HPLC mean?

HPLC stands for high-performance liquid chromatography, a laboratory method used to separate and measure substances in a sample. It describes how the laboratory performs the test. The selected panel's marker list tells you which vitamins are measured.

Should I take supplements before testing?

Tell us the names, amounts and timing of your supplements. These can affect results or how they are interpreted. Kauri confirms any preparation required by the laboratory; do not change prescribed treatment without advice.

What happens after my results?

We review your results with your diet, symptoms and supplement routine. The next step may be food changes, targeted supplementation, further assessment or a planned repeat measurement. The aim is an understandable nutrition plan based on the findings.

Patient questions

Vitamin & Micronutrient Testing: frequently asked questions

Which antioxidant blood-test package should I choose?

Choose the 1,900-baht mineral package for selenium, copper and zinc, or the 1,800-baht vitamin package for C, A and E. The 5,900-baht panel adds a wider selection of antioxidant-related markers, including carotenoids and CoQ10. For a broader assessment including minerals, B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D2/D3, compare the 13,900-baht micronutrient profile. Check the included markers rather than choosing on price alone.

Who might benefit from vitamin and mineral testing?

Testing can help when there is a suspected deficiency, a limited diet, a condition affecting nutrient absorption, or a need to review supplements. Hair loss, tiredness or slow wound healing may prompt an assessment, but these symptoms have several possible causes. Your history helps identify whether these panels or other tests are the most useful starting point.

What happens if a vitamin or mineral result is low or high?

Your clinician considers the laboratory range, diet, supplements, symptoms and recent illness. Low results may lead to a dietary review, investigation of absorption or targeted supplementation. High results may call for a supplement review or further assessment. Blood levels do not always reflect total body stores, so the aim is an appropriate level—not the highest possible number.

Do I need to fast or stop supplements before these tests?

Contact Kauri before your visit for the preparation instructions for your chosen panel. Tell us the names, doses and last use of supplements and any recent vitamin infusions. Recent intake can affect some results. Do not stop prescribed treatment on your own; the team will explain how to prepare and confirm the expected reporting time.

Are these blood tests, supplements or IV treatments?

These are blood-test packages. They measure the listed nutrients; they do not include vitamin supplements or IV infusions. The results can help you and your clinician decide whether changes to food, supplements or further assessment would be useful.

What does the antioxidant and vitamin panel include?

The panel measures vitamins A, C and two forms of E, selected carotenoids and Coenzyme Q10. View the complete list of 10 measured items above. Our team explains preparation before collection.

Is a micronutrient profile the same as the antioxidant panel?

The full Micronutrient Profile + Vitamin D2/D3 includes all 10 items in the antioxidant panel, plus selected minerals, vitamin B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D measurements. It provides a broader nutritional assessment.

Can I request an individual vitamin test?

Yes. Kauri can arrange selected individual vitamin tests as well as profiles. Tell us the marker or health concern you want to investigate so we can confirm the test and price.

Does the antioxidant panel check every nutrient?

It measures 10 listed items: vitamins A, C and two forms of E, selected carotenoids, and CoQ10. It does not include all vitamins and minerals. The full micronutrient profile adds further markers, including B12, folate, selected minerals and vitamin D.
